Mainline welding started in Tamil Nadu section of Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited (KSPPL-JV of IOCL & BPCL)

Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited (KSPPL- 50: 50 JV of IOCL and BPCL) has been entrusted with laying of 459km of LPG pipeline from Kochi (Kerala) to Salem (Tamil Nadu) with product injection points from IOCL’s LPG import terminal and BPCL’s Kochi Refinery. This pipeline aims to connect to various bottling plants of IOCL and BPCL in Kerala and Tamil Nadu thereby reducing the risk of bulk transportation through road/rail etc and ultimately contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and ensuring sustainable operations. With the establishment of pipeline network, KSPPL has emerged as the leading LPG player in South India.

Currently 203km of pipeline is under safe and seamless operations in Kerala. Project activities beyond Palakkad (Kerala) to Salem (Tamil Nadu) spanning for 256km enroute Districts of Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Nammakkal, Erode and Salem, have made its headway with IOCL Pipelines division rendering the Project Management Consultancy to KSPPL. Design, engineering, tendering for award of work to various vendors for this TN section of KSPPL project have been done by the Pipelines division of IOCL. The monitoring and execution of mainline jobs upto commissioning is also being carried out by them.

On 20.08.2025 and 21.08.2025, under the august presence of Mr. K Narender Babu, CEO, KSPPL and Mr. Deva Kumar, DGM (PJ-PMC)IOCL, and Mr. Lineesh C F, Project Manager, TN, KSPPL, the mainline welding started at Coimbatore by M/s Ace Pipeline contracts Pvt Ltd., Mumbai(Group-A) and at Erode by M/s Advance infrastructure Pvt Ltd., Vadodara(Group-B).

KSPPL have done extensive liasoning and garnered support from Tamil Nadu Govt. for support and guidance for seamless project execution. With meticulous planning and diligent monitoring, timely completion of this project is anticipated which will contribute to reduction of CO2 emissions in addition to safe and environment friendly transportation of LPG, in-line with the vision and directives of PNGRB
